Yesterday was a gloriously beautiful day in the New York City metro area, that it meant only one thing - the ability to go down and check out one of the best areas of the City - SoHo and the High Line. All photos were taken with my Canon 60d and 18-55mm lens.

2013 Festival of Ballooning
Posted on 17:00 by Unknown
Sometimes, to get the shot, you need to go to extremes. Like waking at 4am, driving a couple of hours, and then waiting for things to come into view. These were shot earlier today at the 31st Annual Festival of Ballooning, at Solberg Airport in Readington, New Jersey where more than 100 balloonists participated.

And This Is Why I Can't Wait To Get Back To Yosemite
Posted on 15:55 by Unknown
There were a couple of nights where the skies were so clear that we could see the Milky Way and the billions and billions of stars and galaxies that populate the universe. As we were driving back from the Valley to where we were staying in Wawona, Mrs. Lawhawk pointed out that the moon painted the valley and she could see Bridal Veil falls even though it was "dark". She was absolutely right.

Doe! A Deer!
Posted on 19:05 by Unknown
We happened to be walking through the Radburn/Radrock part of Fair Lawn when we came upon this lone doe about 100 yards away from Fair Lawn Avenue. It's the first time we've come across a deer in this part, but now we know that they're around, I'll be sure to have a camera handy.
This one seems to have been accustomed to being around people as I got within 25 yards to shoot this photo. It

Upgrades
Posted on 07:11 by Unknown
After having my trusty Canon XTi for the past five years, I've gone and received an upgrade, courtesy of Mrs. Lawhawk. The new camera of choice is the Canon 60D, which I picked up at Unique Photo in Fairfield, New Jersey.
My reason for upgrades was simple. The XTi was a good camera and had quite a lot going for it when I got it five years ago, but I'd outgrown the camera and had bumped up
